The YouTube Revolution is a Crumbling Cookie
By jason - up to 2007 (archived) • Jan 30th, 2007 • Category: News for Creatives (archives)As YouTube/Google believe intensely that they are “on it” when it comes to the digital media revolution (even though you can’t “share” video on YouTube really, but just watch it) their revolution is based on shifty ground. If we took all the copyright stuff away from YouTube it would be fairly empty in regard to potential advertising revenue (old news). The obvious news that keeps coming in is that the YouTube audience prefers YouTube over traditional TV because they don’t have to sit through ads. So even though there is a grand migration from TV to YouTube, only as long as YouTube has financing will it last OR they’ll have to find a new audience fast, OR return to the supposed original premise, it’s built for the people to share their own video, not to post stolen clips.
