Yahoo Acts Like MySpace Predicts
By jason - up to 2007 (archived) • Jan 31st, 2007 • Category: News for Creatives (archives)GigaOM and TechCrunch report on Yahoo’s new move; launching “brand-centric” sites (up to 100 by years end) to, obviously, gain traffic. Makes sense no? But here are the interesting parts:
1. “…in some instances, the company that owns the brand will not even be involved” (they are giant fan sites? This is so 2002)
2. “So far, however, the talk about monetization is lackadaisical…” (once again a media giant is proving to the kids they just need to sell an investor a good idea – Bubble anyone?)
3. “…Yahoo is taking content from Flickr, Del.icio.us, Yahoo Answers and other Yahoo properties…” (Read those Terms and Conditions, if you post, the man owns it, and will do as it pleases and you don’t get a dime)
Insidious?
