Palm May be Sold

Four serious bidders have emerged for the smart-phone maker, reported Unstrung, an online news service covering the wireless telecommunications business. The bidders – which include cellular-handset makers Nokia and Motorola and private equity firms Texas Pacific Group and Silver Lake Partners – are offering to pay about $2 billion, according to Unstrung, citing unnamed sources “close to the situation.”
Palm spokeswoman Marlene Somsak declined to comment on the report, as did a representative for Texas Pacific Group. Representatives for Nokia, Motorola and Silver Lake Partners did not return calls seeking comment.”
