“Last month, Time Inc. announced that it was suspending publication of the weekly Life magazine. Like some charmed and perpetually resuscitated being in a mystical Eastern rebirth cycle, the publication seems destined to occupy a limbo of near-death experiences and “eventual resurrection” rumors……..When I heard the news last month that Life had finally died, I wondered, wistfully, “Really? How could anyone tell?”
