“Google has formally announced a free presentation application that will supplement its web-based Docs and Spreadsheets programs. Google Chief executive Eric Schmidt talked about the program at the Web 2.0 Expo and said that it would help people create slideshows and other presentations.
Google is partnering up with recently acquired Tonic Systems to develop the software. Some analysts say the presentation app could favorably compete with Microsoft’s PowerPoint, but Schmidt disagreed. In a talk with reporters, he admitted that Google’s web applications have different feature sets and don’t have all the functionality of Microsoft’s suite.”
