No-Sweat Way to Copy Slides, Negatives
By jason - up to 2007 (archived) • Jun 26th, 2007 • Category: News for Creatives (archives)Wired.com reports:
“Hammacher Schlemmer is prepping a new USB attachment for scanning 35mm slides and film negatives into digital images. The converter uses a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor and three white LED lights to scan images at up to 1,829 dots-per-inch, at 10 bits per color channel. The loading tray allows for easy capture with fixed focus and automatic exposure.
The reailer plans to start selling it next week for $100. That’s far cheaper than a dedicated slide scanner, and it sounds like the results ought to at least be more consistent than what I achieved with the SLR lens attachment slide copier that had me croppin’ and cussin’ for a good chunk of last year.”
