Assignment/Project: A Hero Hot Dog with sun-dried tomato strips on it.
Notes: This is a real ‘bread and butter’ job. Sometimes you can’t get everything you need in a shot, even if you work on it all day. So, you have to resort to retouching, in this case, rebuilding a quality hot dog from components. The shoot aims at getting the pieces needed. In this case the limitations were time in the oven, because the parts all needed different temperature times to look their best. Then the hero is built using the parts of the different photos, so that your result is an actual shot of the product, even though it’s composited from parts. This is shooting to solve a problem and retouching at the high end. A simple product may be composed of more than thirty pieces. Shown are three steps in the process.
