“Imagine intending to capture a specific moment on film, only to feel as if the moment has passed you by or has not even surfaced yet. Merih Akoğul believes that his latest exhibition, ”As if,” on display at the Istanbul Photography Center in Beyoğlu until Nov. 3, showcases the feeling of uncertainty while taking a photograph, and the slight regret of an opportunity left behind.

“You take the photograph and the photo you have just taken remains a step behind you. I named the exhibition ‘As if’ because it explains these 35 photographs the best,” said Akoğul, adding that every photographer always has a doubt “as i”‘ the true moment was one frame later or one frame earlier.”
