“Eldorado photographer Bill Sherman’s photo Stairway to Bliss is open to interpretation. In fact, Sherman wants it that way.
“I’ve always been interested in how perception really works,” Sherman said as he looked over a postcard with that photo on it. Sherman’s perception of the digital photo is that it’s a ladder leading up to a “sacred place.”
He took a portion of the photo at Bandelier National Monument. He photographed a ladder leading into a kiva at Bandelier and also some clouds above his house in Eldorado. He digitally altered and combined the two photos, twisting the ladder and adding a splash of yellow in the sky.“
