By David Walker of PDNonline.com:

“Jane Kinne, one of the original architects of the commercial stock photography business, died November 3 from complications of a stroke following heart surgery. She was 82.

During a career that spanned nearly 60 years, Kinne helped build two stock agencies, mentored numerous photographers and aspiring stock agents, led several industry trade groups, and worked as a business and legal consultant.

“Everyone thinks of her as the matriarch of the stock photo industry,” says intellectual property attorney Nancy Wolff, who traces her career to a chance introduction to Kinne in the 1980s. “It seems the history of the whole industry is part of her.”
