“Sigma has announced two new autofocus fisheye lenses designed for digital SLRs that use APS-C-size sensors. The 10mm F2.8 EX DC Fisheye HSM and 4.5mm F2.8 EX DC Circular Fisheye HSM will be available with Nikon, Canon, and Sigma mounts. The 10mm lens produces a 180-degree diagonal angle of view on Nikon cameras, 154 degrees on Sigma cameras, and 167 degrees on Canon. The 4.5mm fisheye has an angle of view of 180 degrees in all directions with all three camera brands, producing a circular image within the frame.
Both lenses are well-suited to close up photography, with a minimum focusing distance of 5.3 inches, and maximum magnification of 1:3.3 for the 10mm lens and 1:6 for the circular fisheye. The two optics also both have an f/22 minimum aperture; Super Multi-Layer Coating to minimize flare and ghosting; a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) for fast, quiet autofocus; and manual focus override via rotation of a focus ring. Gelatin filters can be inserted into a holder at the rear of each lens, and the 10mm optic has an integral hood in front. The circular fisheye also incorporates Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements to minimize chromatic aberration.”
