B.C. museum displays historical photos of the Columbia River

“River of Memory: The Everlasting Columbia” captures what the river looked like before being transformed by a series of hydroelectric dams during the 20th century, said William Layman of Wenatchee, Wash., who curated the show.
Many places on the river – waterfalls, rapids, bays, lakes and various sites associated with aboriginal legend – disappeared when the dams arrived. Layman compares the process to beads being cut from a necklace.”
