“Innovative design re-defines the work environment, naturally
The Giant Group, a publicly-traded company, held a design competition for a new building in Shanghai to house the IT offices and employee amenities for the 2,000-employee gaming software division. Giant wanted to express their technologically advanced and environmentally responsive principals through this addition to their campus.
Perkins Eastman designed an inspirational facility, organized into two phases, to highlight the corporate brand’s pride in innovation, creativity, and culture; taking advantage of proximity to the lake, it harvests geothermal energy to generate a portion of the power requirements. Sheltering the two-storey 1,670 sm (18,000 sf) amenities wing, a dramatic folded roof collects water for storage, cleaning, and reuse on the site. The program unifies campus culture, providing a cafeteria, café, tea house, large meeting and training rooms, gymnasium, and grocery store.”
