Kroger moving towards Green
By Wise Elephant • Mar 4th, 2008 • Category: Farm/Grocery, IndianaCity is PhenomenalInside Indiana Business reports this morning on a handful of initiatives Kroger Supermarkets are launching to go “green”. Here’s a SNIP:
Kroger also recently announced the launch of a national plastic recycling program called “Bag 2 Bag” that includes custom-designed barrels in every store allowing customers to contribute plastic grocery bags, dry cleaning plastic and other types of plastic bags for recycling. The barrels also are used for plastic generated by Kroger’s store operations, including shrink-wrap. This follows earlier announcements that Kroger’s Central Division is replacing motors for refrigerators and freezers to significantly reduce energy consumption, as well as adding skylights, light fixtures and different light bulbs in stores to reduce electricity usage. /SNIP
