Photographing Russell Bourrienne designs
By Megan • Apr 28th, 2008 • Category: Elephant Food (almost-daily images, videos, etc.)Photographing the fashions of menswear designer Russell Bourrienne required the use of multiple light modifiers. A small 2’ by 3’ soft box was placed directly above and slightly in front of the models. Adjusting the core of the light slightly toward the camera feathered the light onto the jeans. Two black cards were placed between the soft box and background. These gobos prevented the main light from illuminating the top of the canvas. I placed a large, shoot through umbrella behind the camera. This soft fill added detail to the shadow areas, which created a ratio of 1:4. Using various lighting techniques, I was able to highlight Russell’s clothes and create an editorial fashion photograph.
