Clustersourcing

By Jason Moriber • Jul 15th, 2009 • Category: Insight & Analysis

It could be the honeymoon with “crowsdourcing” is over. Though initially a cool idea, it’s hard to sustain a business relying on crowds (either as the contributors, editors or the brains) unless the business is totally at the top of the food chain (Flickr as an example, and they are still trying to figure their biz out).

Instead of opening your idea up to the entire world, offer participation to a trusted “cluster” of people. HuffingPost kind of does this through their site, and now Hearst is using clustersourcing to develop new content. Is there a way your business/idea/project can open up and invite a “cluster” to participate in order for it to become more successful?
